• In the UK, all students can apply to a maximum of 5 universities, unless you are applying to follow medical studies, in which case, you can apply to a maximum of only 4 institutions.  The same application will be dispatched to all universities.
• In Canada, the US and most other countries, you are entitled to apply to as many universities as you wish.
The more universities you apply to, the greater are your chances to receive offers.  Yet, the heavier will your workload be to fill out the applications and fulfill the different requirements.  Therefore, it is important that you initiate the process early.
